Eating disorders affect all the systems in the body. One of the most recognizable and common symptoms of anorexia is a significant amount of weight loss.

People with anorexia are often unable to eat very much in a sitting, and they may have stomach pain, heartburn, constipation, and if they vomit often, tooth decay.

General symptoms and signs of eating disorder include:
*Finger nails abnormality (e.g. bluish tint indicating low oxygen)
*Hyperthermia
*Dry skin (indicate dehydration)
*Cardiovascular and respiratory symptoms and signs
*Dyspnoea (difficulty in breathing)
*Neurobiological disorder
*Missed menstrual cycle

Some warning signs are common among all the eating disorders.  These universal warnings include the following behavior with regard to the person who has an eating disorder:
*Preoccupation with weight and eating
*Belief that she can only be worthwhile or okay if she’s thin
*Depressed mood when shells not happy about her weight or how she’s eating
*Severe self-criticism when she doesn’t get things right.

Eating disorder patients often have bizarre diets. These bizarre diets can lead to isolated and unusual deficiencies, like an isolated deficiency of copper.
