Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) is a low-lying, ground, covering herb native to a region extending from Asia to Northern Australia.

In India and Indonesia, gotu kola has long been used to promote wound healing and treat skin diseases.

Medicinally it is a diuretic and stimulant to the kidneys and bladder, as well as a blood purifier. It was always known in India as a longevity plant of 70 to 80 year old people to that of 40.

Modern dietary supplements of gotu kola are generally marketed to help prevent varicose veins and hemorrhoids; heal scars, burns and wounds; reduce skin inflammation; and smooth skin wrinkles.

In addition of the benefits of gotu kola in connective tissue, there also appear to be some benefits for the central nervous system, with potential improvements to lightly boost energy and to help improve memory, concentration and cognitive function.
